The elephant mural was part of a group or murals - (4 in total) that have a long history since 1957 in the main room. Although 2 of the murals are long since gone, the remaining two including the most well known “elephant” mural, which was a copy of a famous Parisian early 20th century tourist painting, are still at this moment on the walls of the theater. While the water damage to the cardboard they’re painted on is not salvagable, the decision to leave them encased behind the new acoustic panels is where we arrived. The homage that will be paid to them we think patrons will enjoy.
